Role Summary

Our ideal candidate is a detail-oriented person who wants to role up their sleeve and participate in the delivery of events supporting innovative start-up and scaling companies.

As the events coordinator you, will be focused on with the marketing team to plan and execute all events and related activities for the organization.

This is a up to 12 weeks’ contract, full-time position. This role will work collaboratively with all departments and teams within Innovation Factory and reports to the Director Marketing.

Note: This position will be available pending funding from Canada Summer Jobs which requires that eligible candidates are under the age of 30 years old and either a Canadian Citizen, a permanent resident of Canada, or a person who has been granted refugee status in Canada.
Rate – $16.55/hour

At the end of your internship, you are required to complete the Canada Summer Job Survey. Candidates must be eligible to work in Canada.

Core Responsibilities

  • Writing marketing descriptions for events
  • Coordinating with client services to select target audiences for events
  • Creation of weekly email marketing campaigns
  • Working with digital marketing to generate awareness and drive attendance to events
  • Managing registration and all related tools
  • Track event metrics and statistics for reporting
  • Selecting and setting up appropriate online technologies
  • Completion of post event follow up activities (satisfaction surveys, CRM input etc.)

Qualifications

  • Be enrolled in or have completed a relevant post-secondary education, College diploma or University degree (For example Business, Communication, Event Planning, Project Management)
  • Strength in writing, planning, and coordinating, project management
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills
  • A flexible and a strong customer service attitude and able to work in a confidential environment
  • Ability to work accurately under tight timelines and manage multiple deadlines and events
  • Knowledge and enthusiasm for Hamilton and Halton Region, the innovation sector, government, and community organizations
  • Proficient computer skills in Microsoft suite of software products – Office 365 (Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Microsoft Teams) and Dynamics CRM as well as Eventbrite, LinkedIn, Twitter.
  • Exceptional planning, organizational and problem-solving skills

Working Conditions

  • 5 days per week; 37.5 hours per week, regular daytime business hours are between 9 am EST to 5 pm EST.
  • On event days, working hours will adjust as necessary for the timing of the event i.e. requiring an early or later work day.
  • Opportunity for a hybrid work model, allowing some remote work
  • Some localized travel required.
