Altus Assessments makes The Globe and Mail’s third annual ranking of Canada’s Top Growing Companies

ORIGINAL PRESS RELEASE, altusassessments.com, September 24, 2021

Altus Assessments is pleased to announce it placed No. 138 on the 2021 Report on Business ranking of Canada’s Top Growing Companies. Canada’s Top Growing Companies ranks Canadian companies on three-year revenue growth. Altus earned its spot with a three-year growth of 325%.

Since its incorporation in 2014, Altus has been on a mission to create a world served by exceptional professionals by helping universities look beyond book smarts. Until 2020, it had done this primarily through Casper, a unique situational judgment test that evaluates applicants’ social intelligence and professionalism. This last year, however, has brought significant change to the world of higher education and the team at Altus. To better meet the needs of academic programs and learners, Altus introduced two new assessments — Snapshot, a one-way video interview, and Duet, a value-alignment assessment — to complement Casper and paint a more complete picture of applicants. The company also acquired One45 and its MedEd management software platform which, combined with Altus’ research-backed admissions assessments, provides medical schools with the operational tools and end-to-end data analytics they need to run great programs and train better doctors.

“We are so thrilled to be listed once again alongside other Canadian innovators who are leaving their mark,” says Rich Emrich, CEO of Altus Assessments. “While the pandemic has certainly created challenges for our partners in Higher Ed, we knew this was an opportunity to step up to the plate. Adding new assessments and combining our expertise with One45’s will help programs address the learner’s entire journey and empower students in their professional development as they pursue their dreams. As a unified company, we’re serving over 500 higher education partners and 300,000 students.”

Launched in 2019, the Canada’s Top Growing Companies editorial ranking aims to celebrate entrepreneurial achievement in Canada by identifying and amplifying the success of growth-minded, independent businesses in Canada. It is a voluntary program; companies had to complete an in-depth application process in order to qualify. In total, 448 companies earned a spot on this year’s ranking.

The full list of 2021 winners, and accompanying editorial coverage, is published in the October issue of Report on Business magazine—out now—and online.

“As we look toward the future, Canada’s Top Growing Companies offer both inspiration and practical insights for other firms facing similar challenges,” says James Cowan, Editor of Report on Business magazine. “The entrepreneurs behind these companies are smart, tenacious and unwavering in their commitment to their goals.”

“Any business leader seeking inspiration should look no further than the 448 businesses on this year’s Report on Business ranking of Canada’s Top Growing Companies,” says Phillip Crawley, Publisher and CEO of The Globe and Mail. “Their growth helps to make Canada a better place, and we are proud to bring their stories to our readers.”
