SWTCH & LG powering new EV chargers at Wrigley Field

SWTCH and LG’s intelligent EV charging solution offers high performance and great reliability for better charging experiences & easier management by the Wrigley Field team.

SWTCH and LG Electronics announced the installation of 10 EV charging stations at one of the parking facilities servicing Wrigley Field, historic home to the MLB’s Chicago Cubs. The chargers have been available for use by visitors to the iconic stadium since the beginning of this baseball season.

This partnership represents an important step forward for offering visitors with electric vehicles convenient access to in-demand charging services. Available on a first-come, first-served basis, the 10 chargers are located in the Toyota Camry lot (1126 W Grace St, Chicago). Thanks to SWTCH’s support for variable pricing, the Cubs organization will be able to optimize its pricing structure for different events, providing more options for the venue as it tailors this service to guest needs.

“We pride ourselves on offering ‘smart charging for busy buildings,’ and Wrigley Field more than lives up to that description,” said Ben Newell, Chief Revenue Officer at SWTCH. “We’re honoured to have been entrusted with powering charging services that are now available to the hundreds of thousands of people attending games and events at Wrigley Field each year.”

Combining hardware from LG Electronics and software from SWTCH, the chargers represent a best-in-class offering which includes top-quality components and software intelligence. Wrigley Field and its customers can expect performance and service that greatly exceeds industry standards, with uptime of more than 98.4%, 24/7 performance monitoring and customer support, and intuitive access and payment systems for drivers who plug in.

“The availability of these new charging stations near Wrigley Field is helping kick off the new season and demonstrating the forward-thinking approach necessary to help fans at the Friendly Confines and Wrigleyville community embrace electric vehicles without reservations,” said Michael Kosla, senior vice president, LG Business Solutions USA. “Working directly with the Cubs, SWTCH and LG customized the charging stations’ software to manage power, optimize performance and ensure seamless guest experiences.”
