Ontario has committed to funding 15 innovative health technologies via grants from the new Health Technologies Fund (HTF). The grants support the development of software and mobile devices that focus on the delivery of better home and community care. These projects will undergo assessment and evaluation over the next 18 to 24 months to facilitate their success for adoption and scalability in Ontario’s innovative health care system.
In 2016-17, $5.4 million will be distributed to 15 projects. One of those projects is from an iF client, iUGO Health. iUGO will receive funding for improving diabetes care through real-time monitoring.
Diabetes needs to be closely monitored and that can be a challenge for people living in remote areas of Ontario. iUGO connects patients with their health care team in real-time, allowing them to get care in their own homes. The Health Innovation Team will be Sioux Lookout Meno Ya Win Health Centre, Reliq Health. The project will receive $100,000 in funding.
