Synapse Life Science Pitch Competition Press Release

Eight Teams Advance In Synapse Life Science Competition

Innovation Factory, The DeGroote School of Business, McMaster University, the Xerox Centre for Engineering Entrepreneurship and Innovation, and Mohawk College have announced the eight teams who will advance to the next round of the Synapse Life Sciences Competition.

Thirteen teams submitted an executive summary of their innovative concept in early January that were subsequently evaluated by a panel of industry judges to determine the eight teams moving forward into the next round of the competition. The finalists advancing in the competition are: Advanced Theranostics, Culture Made Faster, Genesis Health Light, Miami Mice, Pain-QuILT, Pairwise Affinity, Therapeutic Surface Solutions Inc., and MELOCAS.

The eight finalists are competing for $15,000 in cash and over $15,000 in professional services.

After submitting a full commercialization plan in early February 2014, only three teams will advance to the final round – a pitch competition on March 7, 2014.

A panel of industry professionals will observe each pitch, ask questions, and ultimately determine which team will take home the grand prize. Investors, business people and the life science community from the greater Hamilton and Toronto area will also be in attendance at the final event.
