Neuston Biosystems is a hardware startup developing affordable, on-site wastewater treatment systems for the agri-food sector. Our systems are intended to help food producers reduce waste management costs while advancing their operational sustainability and participation in circular bioeconomies. By upgrading cost-effective, mass-manufactured treatment hardware, we enhance remediation capacities and convert remediated pollutants into agricultural byproducts for added circular value. Neuston’s modular, scalable systems are designed to remediate phosphorus-rich or high-organic-load industrial waste streams, with our initial focus on treating whey wastewater for small and mid-sized cheese producers in Ontario.
