10 FIRMS, EACH ELIGIBLE FOR $50K, WELCOMED INTO AUTONOMOUS VEHICLE INTEGRATION NETWORK PROGRAM
Ten companies, nine of which are based in the Toronto-Waterloo Corridor, have been named to the second cohort of the AVIN Waterloo Ventures at Communitech program.
AVIN, or Autonomous Vehicle Integration Network, is a program for Ontario-based companies and delivered by Communitech on behalf of the Province of Ontario and the Ontario Centres of Excellence. The program aims to foster development of products, technology and services related to autonomous vehicles.
Partners include the University of Waterloo’s Centre for Automotive Research and the Waterloo Economic Development Corporation.
Each company accepted into the AVIN program receives up to $50,000 toward product development and also gains access to mentorship. Projects must support the connected and autonomous vehicle sector or be related to transportation, logistics, utilities, infrastructure, the internet and media.
Upon completion of the program, startups will be eligible to receive a referral to a demonstration project or matchmaking event with corporate partners through the AVIN Demo Zone.
Startups in the second cohort include:
- AirMatrix
- ApoSys Technologies
- EastSleepRide
- Ecosystem Informatics
- Gatik
- GeoMate
- GGI Inc
- IRIS R&D Group
- Scaffold AI
- Zown
The first cohort of eight companies were accepted into the program last October. Requests for information on the program’s third cohort are currently open and available on Communitech.ca.
