ACTO announced its acquisition of CoHealth here: ACTO Acquires CoHealth to Open New Frontier in Patient Education
Patients and caregivers are looking at drug and device manufacturers to play a greater role in their care delivery, giving the life sciences industry an opportunity to play a greater role in improving the patient care journey through patient education.
Today, CoHealth has been acquired by ACTO, the Omnichannel Education and Engagement Platform for Life Sciences. CoHealth is a mobile application that provides trusted resources for patients and caregivers, enabling them to effectively navigate through and coordinate their care journey. This is ACTO’s second strategic acquisition, along with Scrimmage, since closing a USD $11.5 million Series A round this summer, bringing a new division with direct-to-patient education capabilities to ACTO’s SaaS platform.
The CoHealth Story
CoHealth was founded in 2015 by Cory Blumenfeld and Zack Fisch Rothbart after Zack had a sporting accident that developed complications post-surgery. Zack believed that these complications could have been avoided if he had access to more information on self-care post-surgery. Seeing this as an opportunity, Zack set out to build a platform that would allow healthcare providers to share proper care protocols with their patients and their families, equipping them with the right tools to make informed decisions related to their health, or the health of a loved one.
What does this acquisition mean for the life sciences industry?
By integrating CoHealth’s innovation into ACTO’s technology, life sciences companies are now in a unique position in having access to some of the best-trusted content that can be shared around their products across the care continuum, from lab to bedside and beyond. By doing so, commercial leaders will be able to drive patient education by equipping patients and caregivers with the information they would need in their patient care journey.
“By joining the ACTO family, we are taking the next step toward our vision of connecting the dots in healthcare, CoHealth CEO Zack Fisch Rothbart, now an advisor with ACTO’s Healthcare Innovation Team said. “ACTO’s world-class platform in life sciences education and engagement, combined with CoHealth’s expertise and technology surrounding the delivery of trusted health content, such as engaging videos and brochures, will create a ‘single source of truth’ for patients to access the right information whenever and wherever they need it.”
“Life sciences companies need to go beyond leaving fliers in doctors’ offices and step up to answer the call of duty during and beyond the pandemic,” Parth Khanna, CEO of ACTO added. “That means using cutting-edge technologies to forge digital connections with both physicians and patients. With the integration of CoHealth’s patient-facing tools, ACTO further delivers on our promise of facilitating true omnichannel education and engagement for all stakeholders in the care continuum.”
