Future of Transportation and Mobility Series Event Hosts the Innovation Community

The event offered insight and opportunities related to connected transportation and electrified vehicles.

HAMILTON, ONTARIO, November 4, 2022 – The fifth installment of the Future of Transportation and Mobility Series (FTMS) attracted hundreds of attendees from around the world, interested in exploring the trends, opportunities, and changes in transportation. Co-hosted by the Centre for Integrated Transportation and Mobility (CITM) and Durham RTDS, yesterday’s conference offered a look into the future of connected transportation and electrified vehicles.

FTMS guests started their day with a virtual conference featuring presentations by industry thought-leaders from Toyota Canada, Geotab, Road and Transport Authority Dubai, and General Motors. In-person receptions were also hosted in the afternoon in both Hamilton and Durham, Ontario, providing attendees with an opportunity to networkwith representatives of the automotive, transportation, and innovation communities.

Also announced at yesterday’s event was CITM’s new Innovation Challenges initiative, designed to bring together industry, technology, and innovation partners to solve pressing real-world transportation challenges. Applications are now open and startups are encouraged to apply for the chance to access pilot projects, technology talent, and resources to support their product development and commercialization efforts.

The Hamilton in-person networking reception was held at CITM’s offices and welcomed leading industry partners, Linamar, Fyelabs, and Nokia, as well as a diverse group of clients including Gatik, Ecosystem Informatics, Eecomobility, Mesomat, Auper, Arcpoint Connect, Aposys Technologies, and Cyberwork Robotics.

Shirook Ali, the Founder and CEO of Ecosystem Informatics participated in a morning panel and attended the reception. “Working with a transportation-focused accelerator such as CITM is invaluable to an emerging company like ours. FTMS was a great opportunity to gain the latest sector insight and meet with industry experts, government, and technology leaders. These connections often lead to strategic collaborations, partnerships, and opportunities that are invaluable to us,” said Ali.

“We look forward to co-hosting FTMS every year as this global forum encourages discussions and collaboration that support smart and electrified transportation innovation. FTMS is an opportunity to share highlight the extensive resources that are available for startups looking to develop, test, and validate new technologies. Our free 5G test network, business advisory team, and programs such as the Innovation Challenge just announced are designed to support the unique challenges faced by scaling companies in this sector,” said Richard Dunda, Director, Centre for Integrated Transportation and Mobility.
