On Tuesday, February 21, iF hosted an enthusiastic group of networkers and entrepreneurs for an afternoon of making impactful business connections. Our February Lunch ‘n Learn, entitled “Connecting the Dots: How to Build a Strategic Business Network”, featured renowned leadership coach Katie Geoghegan in an interactive and engaging presentation.
Katie led participants through a series of activities designed to develop and foster purposeful connections. For example, participants were asked to think about “the contact of their dreams”: who would they be and how would this conversation turn out? By visualizing their ideal contact and sharing this with peers, participants could make progressive steps towards making that connection happen.
A takeaway that participants found particularly valuable was the creation/expansion of their “network map”. Using the tools provided, they identified the main groups of people that they could potentially network with, including family and friends, colleagues, suppliers, past classmates, and many more. By recognizing the potential of groups previously unconsidered, participants walked away with set goals to expand these networks within the week.
A big thank you to Katie for hosting this great session and to our event co-presenter, The Forge. Until next month!
