Computer Systems Technology – Software Development
From web apps and mobile apps to systems analysis and database design, this course teaches the development of software that everyone wants to use. Innovation Factory clients have been selected to participate in the COMP-CO867 Software Engineering Project course at Mohawk College, with Faculty member Mark Yendt. These clients work with students over 14 weeks to complete specific, industry-relevant projects.

ADDITIVE MANUFACTURING INNOVATION CENTRE (AMIC) AT MOHAWK
A leading research centre in metal additive manufacturing, the Additive Manufacturing Innovation Centre (AMIC) provides designers and manufacturers with a collaborative applied research environment in which to explore the technology on an industrial scale. The Centre’s focus is on supporting industrial adoption of advanced manufacturing and industry 4.0 technologies for increased efficiency and better product design.
Industry partners can access laser sintering capabilities (utilizing metal (DMLS) and plastic (SLS) powders), fused deposition modelling (FDM), optical and scanning electron microscopy to characterize materials, and a trained research team to operate the labs and collaborate on projects. AMIC projects help industry with innovative product (re)design and development; manufacturing process optimization; and new materials development. Workshops and specialized training are also available to industry.

MHEALTH & EHEALTH DEVELOPMENT AND INNOVATION CENTRE (MEDIC) AT MOHAWK
The mHealth & eHealth Development and Innovation Centre (MEDIC) conducts digital health applied research, provides advanced skill development services and leads the design, development and testing of electronic medical records (EMR) systems, patient health records (PHR) systems, clinical assessment tools, and patient-facing mobile and web application development and device integration. MEDIC’s Digital Health User Experience Lab, the only one of its kind in southern Ontario, supports MEDIC’s usability research team to offer customized user-testing and validation of new and existing products and solutions.

THE MCMASTER INDUSTRY LIAISON OFFICE (MILO)
The McMaster Industry Liaison Office (MILO) supports the research endeavours at McMaster University by connecting companies with our faculty and students for research collaborations and access to unique research facilities. In addition, MILO is the technology transfer office for the university and its affiliated hospitals and provides resources to facilitate in the commercialization of research through licensing out of McMaster inventions to companies or spin-offs to create economic and social benefit for the region and Canada.

The Forge
The Forge is a business incubator funded by McMaster University, serving novel and scalable startups in the Hamilton, Greater Toronto and Niagara Regions. Launched in 2015, the business incubator works hands-on with entrepreneurs to develop their business ideas from ideation and validation to growth. The Forge is sector agnostic and offers cohort-based programming. Clients receive expert mentorship, non-dilutive seed funding, investor introductions, office space, entrepreneurial workshops, access to a well-equipped makerspace and numerous services to ensure success. The Forge does not take equity in the startups they support.
