Global Entrepreneurship Week events you won’t want to miss!
Although we celebrate entrepreneurship and innovation regularly here at Innovation Factory, we’re excited to see a number of noteworthy events that will be taking place around this year’s Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW, #GEW2016) – the world’s largest celebration of entrepreneurship.
GEW is from November 14-20 this year, and it’s geared at inspiring people around the world through local, national and global activities designed to help them explore their potential as self-starters and entrepreneurs. GEW celebrates the innovators and job creators who launch startups that bring ideas to life, drive economic growth and expand human welfare.
In Hamilton, we’re lucky to have a thriving entrepreneurial ecosystem, and as a result there are a number of great events coming up around the time of GEW that we’re sharing with you! If you’re an entrepreneur or enthusiastic about innovation, we encourage you to check some of these out:
ELEV8 Pitch Night – Nov. 9
Okay, so this one doesn’t technically fall right within GEW, BUT it’s a can’t miss event in November for those interested in entrepreneurship and innovation! ELEV8 is a program by Innovation Factory that showcases companies who have a product in-market (or close to launch) in an investment-style pitch presentation. It’s designed to give the Hamilton community a sneak peek at our up-and-coming startups.
You Can’t Be Everywhere…Old School Marketing in a Digital Era – Nov. 15
Lunch ‘n Learns at Innovation Factory are great opportunities to learn from fellow entrepreneurs and industry professionals about valuable, timely topics, network and enjoy a delicious lunch. They’re held nine times per year and are open to the public. This month’s event features Marie Wiese of Marketing CoPilot and tackles demystifying digital marketing so that you can focus on what matters: closing deals, delighting your clients, and spending time with the people you love.
Hamilton Startup Crawl – Nov. 17
To celebrate Global Entrepreneurship Week, McMaster University (along with some partners) is throwing out all the “stops” (literally). The stops being all the places you need to know about in the McMaster and broader Hamilton community, that help or support entrepreneurs. This is your chance to explore entrepreneurship outside of the campus walls. Stops include Innovation Factory, The Forge, Mabel’s Labels, Nix Sensor Ltd. and more!
WordPress & Blogging for Beginners – Nov. 19
Ladies Learning Code is bringing its popular WordPress & Blogging for Beginners to Hamilton on November 19th for a full day of learning! In this workshop, attendees will learn how to take their writing to the next level by creating an appealing blog that people will want to visit over and over again. This workshop is designed for beginners who are interested in improving their writing and technical skills to create and maintain a professional-looking, user-friendly blog.
