Speechcraft is a program designed to help develop public speaking skills in a friendly, non-threatening environment. During each meeting, participants will learn and practice speaking and evaluation skills and have the opportunity to learn from experienced speakers.

Each meeting will have three main components:

Table Topics
• Table Topics is designed to provide participants with the opportunity to practice impromptu thinking and speaking. Participants learn to present their thoughts in a clear, organized manner with a minimum of preparation.

Prepared Speeches
• Participants present 3 to 6 speeches based on project guidelines in a workbook. Each project is a highly compressed summary of communication principles, such as structure of a speech, vocal variety, and gestures and body language. Most of these speeches consist of 3 to 5 minute talks.

Evaluation
• An important part of the Speechcraft program is feedback. After each speech, an advisor or another Speechcraft participant will provide immediate feedback in the form of an evaluation with the purpose of helping participants become more effective speakers. The evaluations are not intended to be judgmental or critical but more like a friend who is merely offering potential helpful feedback.
