About the Speakers

Andreea Muth, Lawyer, Pallett Valo LLP

Andreea has a general corporate and commercial law practice, with a focus on business owner estate planning. She advises business owners and private corporations on the structure and implementation of corporate reorganizations, mergers and acquisitions, as well as comprehensive business succession planning. This includes will and estate planning, and the use of family trusts. Combining her unique blend of corporate/commercial law and estate planning experience, Andreea sets up structures that are tailored to each client’s specific estate and business needs. Clients also appreciate her ability to explain complex issues in everyday terms.

Joanna Ma, Partner, Bereskin & Parr LLP

Joanna Ma is a technology lawyer specialized in patents with an electrical engineering background. She works with companies to identify their intellectual property and to develop an IP strategy that is practical and aligned with their business goals. Joanna is also an IP advisor at several innovation centres across Ontario.

Shuo Xing, Associate, Bereskin & Parr LLP

Shuo Xing is an associate with Bereskin & Parr LLP and a member of the Life Sciences group. Her practice focuses on prosecution and litigation of patent matters, especially in the chemical, biotechnology, and pharmaceutical fields. She works closely with clients including start-ups, universities and multinational corporations in the prosecution and drafting of patents. Shuo also participates in the analysis of patent issues including filing strategies, validity, infringement, and freedom-to-operate.
