This is a hackathon for anyone who wants to be a part of changing their community for the better!
Teams will be dumped a large collection of data courtesy of the Community Foundations of Canada. This will be data on health, education, wealth gaps, crime, poverty, any data indicator that could display a “problem” in a particular community. Once they find a problem, the teams have to work to develop an idea that can be implemented to help solve that problem.
You do not have to know how to code. All skills as welcome – anyone can change their community.
You’ve only got 24 working hours to do this. At the end, everyone presents and we give away $5,000 in prizes to the winner(s). The victors also get to present their idea at the McMaster President’s Research Showcase.
We’ll also hear from a speaker from the Community Foundations of Canada, as well someone from a successful social venture. And, of course, we’ll feed you all weekend long. Check out the agenda for more details.
