Food Forum: Product Validation and Markets

In this session, Amy Proulx, Professor of Culinary Innovation and Food Technology at Niagara College and John Holland, Innovation Factory Executive-in-Residence will lead attendees in a discussion on product validation and what strategies you can use to validate that there is a market need, as well as how to access data and where to go to find out more about market gaps and validating the need.
Food research and technology will be explored; including product trialing, in-home consumer use tests, focus groups, or taste tests at local venues, food safety risk assessment and CFIA product validation protocols. Strategies on how participants can complete the latter technical evaluation themselves or with a service provider will be covered.
The Food Forum is a peer-to-peer group for IF clients working in the Food sector as well as individuals considering entrepreneurship in this sector, and entrepreneurs with early stage businesses who want to learn and discuss from and with like- minded peers.
These sessions aim to bring together entrepreneurs and industry experts to discuss common challenges in the food industry, and to learn best practices.
