ENTREPRENEUR’S TOOLKIT WORKSHOPS: Pitching to Investors (Part 1 of 2)

February 1, 2017 @ 5:00 pm - 9:00 pm

This two-part workshop series is designed to help early-stage ventures create a comprehensive 10-slide pitch to gain investors’ attention and ultimately funding.

Many new ventures need to access external sources of funding to effectively build their product and enter the market. This workshop series will help you to understand how to create a powerful pitch that you can use to engage investors.

Workshop Schedule

Session 1 – What do investors & stakeholders want to know? // February 1, 2017, 5:00pm – 9:00pm

In this session, participants will focus on gathering and structuring the information required to effectively engage with investors. Using the essentials of effective communication, you will craft a compelling narrative that will help your venture to stand out in front of investors and other stakeholders.

Deliverable: A summary of the 10 key components that form your investment story.

Session 2 – Creating your pitch // February 8, 2017, 5:00pm – 9:00pm

This session will focus on creating a powerful narrative and pitch by applying the principles of storytelling. You will be given the opportunity to practice your pitch during the session and obtain feedback that will help you to turn your investment story into a compelling presentation.

Deliverable: A 10-slide pitch deck summarizing your key information.

Doors will open at 4:30pm for networking. The workshop will begin promptly at 5:00pm.


Cost of Workshops

The Entrepreneur’s Toolkit Workshops cost $50 to attend. There are two different ticket types that can be purchased:

1. ONE Client Refundable Deposit

Purchase this ticket if you are a client of a regional innovation centre (Ontario Network of Entrepreneurs). When prompted on the registration page, please list the regional centre of which you are a member and your current advisor’s name. You will be refunded your full ticket price at the end of the workshop series and upon completion of our post-workshop survey.**

2. General Attendance Fee

Purchase this ticket if you are not currently a member of a regional innovation centre. This ticket will not be refunded.

**If you are unable to attend a workshop session, please let us know 24 hours in advance. We regret that failure to do so may result in the loss of your deposit.

**The post-workshop survey must be completed within 5 days of the last day of a workshop series for a registration deposit or discount to be refunded.

Meet the Instructor: Kevin Smith

Kevin Smith is a story architect. In his 20+ career in sales, marketing, entrepreneurship and politics, Kevin has done over 10,000 pitches. Kevin helps startups unleash their story to secure customers and investors by helping them understand what their core customer story is and then helping them get their story to market.

Kevin spent 14+ years at Dell in consumer sales, B2B sales, Enterprise Sales and Enterprise Marketing. After helping to develop go-to-market strategies for their acquired startups, he reconnected with his passion for entrepreneurship and began helping startups full time. His expertise include branding, messaging, marketing strategy, SEO, content and social media marketing, presentation and pitch design, web design, lead generation, sales coaching and business development.
