E-Sales, Digital Marketing & Promotions: Where to Draw the CASL Line When it Comes to Customers’ Rights and Privacy
September 17, 2020 @ 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm
There are countless ways we connect with our customers, new sales leads, and potential clients but with each digital and communication touchpoint, the Canadian Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL) and The Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) play a role protecting their rights in not being the targeted recipient of unwanted spam and collection of personal information. It is your responsibility as a Canadian business owner to ensure that you are compliant with CASL and PIPEDA in order to avoid backlash from customers, potential customers or the various divisions of Canadian government who govern privacy protection.
In this session, Matt Campbell, Corporate and Commercial Associate Lawyer with SimpsonWigle LAW LLP will provide examples of sales and transactional situations and how CASL and PIPEDA should be adhered to. You will learn the legal do’s and don’ts of:
1) customer data or personal information collection;
2) following up on potential business leads;
3) online sales marketing and lead generation strategies;
4) obtaining consent to correspond; and
5) maintaining general legal compliance with CASL and PIPEDA.
