After a series of major competitive wins, McMaster University innovator Mann Parikh is accelerating the growth of his neurotechnology startup, NerView Surgical. In the past year alone, Parikh captured $10,000 at Techtoberfest 2025, secured $100,000 through the Ontario Brain Institute’s NERVE program, and most recently received $30,000 in funding through Mitacs Accelerate Entrepreneur. Together, these milestones signal growing validation for NerView and the momentum Parikh has built through his involvement in The Clinic’s Residency program.

Parikh, an alumni of both The Clinic’s Health Innovation Bootcamp and Residency programs, received the funding through Mitacs, a national organization that supports innovation by connecting research talent with real-world challenges. The award will match $15,000 in funding over a four-month internship, helping accelerate NerView’s path toward clinical validation and market readiness.

The funding comes on the heels of a major milestone for NerView: Parikh was recently named a recipient of $100,000 through the Ontario Brain Institute (OBI) NERVE program, following a second, successful application.

“I knew after my first attempt that this was something worth committing to,” Parikh said of the OBI process. “The feedback I received showed me exactly where we needed to improve. When I applied again, I was able to demonstrate real progress and tangible results.”

NerView is developing technology to support precision and safety in neurosurgical procedures, an idea Parikh began pursuing full-time in late 2023. He credits his involvement in The Clinic’s programming for helping transform an early concept into a fundable venture.

“The Clinic has been phenomenal for me as an entrepreneur and a learner,” he said. “The Residency built my foundation in problem framing, customer discovery and regulatory literacy. It created a safe space to test ideas, learn from failure and iterate quickly.”

That preparation has translated into results on the pitch stage. Late last year, Parikh took first place at Techtoberfest 2025, earning a $10,000 prize and standing out among a competitive field of technology founders from across Ontario.

That foundation proved critical as Parikh navigated high-stakes funding applications and investor-style pitches. “The mentorship and workshops gave me the confidence and structure I needed,” he added. “Those lessons continue to shape every milestone NerView has achieved.”

The Mitacs funding reflects a new opportunity for founders participating in The Clinic’s Residency program. Startups enrolled in the Residency can now access Mitacs Accelerate Entrepreneur funding, which pays undergraduate, graduate and postdoctoral fellows to help grow early-stage ventures and bring innovations to market faster. The program offers $15,000 per four-month internship, with opportunities to scale depending on a startup’s needs.

With support now in place from both OBI and Mitacs, Parikh says the year ahead will focus on translation and execution.

“We’re moving from fifth-generation prototype testing on cadavers to first-in-human clinical trials,” he said. “At the same time, we’re continuing product development with feedback from surgeons and clinical partners, while building the evidence needed for regulatory approval and early market access.”

Parikh is also continuing his academic journey as a current student in the Master of Biomedical Innovation program at the Marnix E. Heersink School of Biomedical Innovation & Entrepreneurship, where he is further developing the skills needed to scale impact-driven health ventures.

For other early-stage innovators considering similar opportunities, Parikh emphasizes persistence.

“Don’t wait until everything feels perfect to apply,” he said. “These opportunities aren’t just about the funding. They’re about the feedback, the connections and the growth that come with putting yourself out there. Keep showing up and keep refining.”
