In 2015 we see the realization of certain dreams and nightmares from the past 100 years, including: a totally aware Big Brother, money grasped from “thin air” through computational force and festival headlining celebrity holograms. Join us as we explore these issues:
In an era of big data, the battle for privacy is ongoing – personal data is routinely collected and traded with few effective controls over how it is used. Which information security and privacy threats should we be most concerned with?
The new generation of currency looks nothing like its past. Technology is transforming money as we know it – cryptocurrenices, P2P economies, crowdfunding – are all reshaping our world. Will these technologies empower people or support traditional financial powers?
Aristotle is credited with first classifying the five senses that we know best: touch, smell, taste, hearing, and vision. Our senses allow us to understand our immediate world. How are new technologies expanding, repairing or rewiring the human senses to create different understanding of the world?
