Dragon of Legends game now live on Square Enix Indie Collective

For the past year, local Hamilton game development company – Thrive Games – has been working hard on their flagship game: Dragon of Legends. Thrive is an Innovation Factory client and part of The Forge accelerator, and they now have a fantastic opportunity to take Dragon of Legends and their company to the next level.

Earlier this year, Thrive got in touch with the world renowned Japanese video game developer, publisher and distribution company, Square Enix, and learned about a pre-crowdfunding platform that they host known as the Square Enix Indie Collective.

How does it work? Pitches are submitted to their website and the community is asked to vote if they would support the project on a crowdfunding service if given the opportunity. This portion of the service is free, but if a project receives a substantial amount of votes of interest, Square Enix may offer up their services to further support the project through a crowdfunding campaign for 5% of the net gains.

Why is this such a great opportunity for Thrive? The Square Enix platform has had success stories for a number of retro-inspired games similar in style to Thrive’s Dragon of Legends, and some of their most successful games are from studios based not far from Hamilton in the GTA (i.e. Halcyon 6, Moon Hunters and Tokyo Dark). They’re truly in a sweet spot for success.

JournalBecause the concept for the Collective platform is quite new, there have only been a handful of success stories so far. Currently there are no other products with the amount of features and quality that Thrive brings to the table, so it is the ideal time to release something on their service before the platform gets overly saturated or considered passe by the gaming public.

Thrive released their pitch page on May 25, and the voting period will last for 28 days. They are already one of the most popular projects on the site, but now need your help to secure that top spot – proving to the publisher that they are truly worth supporting!

Help a local Hamilton company get the funding they need to make it big – vote for Thrive on Square Enix!
